I thought it would be enough that he was transparent …

Was ich letzte Woche verpasst habe:

  • Ondrej Brody & Kristofer Paetau: TO LOSE @ STYX Projects.
    Stills aus meinem Liebslings-Video: Artstar
Brody, Paetau: but he is also wet ...
Brody, Paetau: Between us, this has been already done but ...
Brody, Paetau: Wolfgang Tillmans did it
Brody, Paetau: we could have said that ...
  • Unfamiliar drawing experiment #1 with Amy Sillman and Sadie Benning im Basso. Im Rahmen von ANFANG GUT. ALLES GUT.
„A live drawing experiment, constructed in honor of the scene in Victory over the Sun in which the telephone operator is informed of the sun’s demise. In this version, the „audience“ will direct „the artist“ to draw (some-thing!? it is up to the audience to say!).“

  • WTF imagery

WTF paintings. „When I first began this series of paintings I began paying more attention to what elements were generally found in WTF imagery.“

  • It’s basically a diagram

Amy Sillman, Bomblog: „I guess you didn’t know this but me and Abstraction broke up!!!!! Last summer!!!!“

„now I like totally, like, LOVE, and I super love Cubism, (I am so mad at my friend Kerstin in Berlin because she doesn’t even LIKE Cubism but I feel like Cubism is like so amazing. It’s basically a diagram, if you know what I mean.)“

  • PAINTERS/PAINTING PANEL

A talk about painting. beginnt mit der ewig lahmen idee, daß jetzt gerade ein „weak moment“ wäre und macht weiter mit einer albernen liste an aussagen über malerei. antipuritanian sensuality ist eine der besseren ideen, die für malerei in anspruch genommen wird. aber eine panel diskussion über malerei ist ansich genial. und david humphrey (expressive popart with a surrealist superego) und deborah kass (nostalgia is a true emotion) sind gute redner. moderator ist tom sanford. manierism für immer!

Queer Thing, Painting

Hier ist ein Zitat aus Amy Sillman / Gregg Bordowitz: Between Artists:

And regarding shame, I used to have this theory that people who painted in layers were like shoplifters. Concealing things on your body is sort of what you’re doing when you make painting, because you’re always covering up earlier layers and the paintings go out into the world with little secrets or messages, or little secret phalluses or fetishes, kind of buried inside the layers I guess I have a really complex relationship to paintings emotionally. It’s agressive, I’m fighting a lot, and maybe you can sense all of that, too.
